Amen Ankh Is Growing Green

THE TIME IS NOW TO "GROW GREEN"

Our ancestors repurposed and reused everything. You can go to many African Countries, even now and find beautiful jewelry, unique furniture, and accessories created from recycled and found items that have often been rejected and thrown away by other people.

Here in the US every city is inundated with vacant lots, which are plentiful in most urban neighborhoods. These lots can be converted to Urban Farms or community gardens, where entire neighborhoods can help plant and maintain the gardens and profit together with the farms.

We must re-connect our experiences with green initiatives. An example of how this connection is made is with recycling. This is another way is to engage our youth to go green. They can have Recycling drives, taking old clothes and re-creating, and making art with found and repurposed objects is an excellent and inspiring activity for school and neighborhood projects.

By composting, growing food and promoting other entrepreneurial initiatives can be fun and create a lifelong pursuit into the fields of Agriculture and Ecological Engineering and other GeoSciences. There are many financial endowments and scholarships available to pay for educational opportunities in green initiatives. In Missouri, Lincoln University will give a full-ride scholarship to any student who pursues a field in agriculture.

 Why should WE “Go Green?”
  • We are approaching a global food shortage
  • Cities are experiencing water shortages
  • Oil is finite
  • The demand for energy around the world is increasing
  • As above so below- We are all connected to the inner-verse and universe

What can we do?

  • Encourage and vote for elected officials who have a green agenda
  • Grow YOUR OWN FOODS AND Support People and companies who are concerned about the environment
    • Sasteh Meter Mosley has been the Green Griot of Kansas City for more than 20 years and established EMWOT a Green Micro-Economic Development initiative. His Motto is "Stick a Seed in the Ground!" As a child, Sasteh woke up from a roster crowing in his next door neighbor's back yard. He experienced his first glimpse of Urban Agriculture, with chickens, eggs, wild game, rabbits, and fresh vegetables being sold to the neighborhood. He later cultivated food in a variety of communities, for example, establishing the "Bunk-Bed" system with Will Allen in Milwaukee.
    • Mama Nuta Beqsu (Adenike AmenRa) Is a Gnome Builder. Her efforts to support the Tomorrow Children and brother Pete O'neal have been her passion and dedication for years.
    •  DJ Cavem is a green rapper sharing the good news with his family about vegan living and Urban Farming.
    • Colin Kaepernick has Personally Supported Black Lives Matter and Urban Agriculture.
    • Wangari Maathai has assisted women’s groups in planting over 40 million trees.
    • Shai Agassi wants to replace gas stations with electric charging stations
    • Will Allan is sharing the knowledge of Aquaponics and Urban Farming.
    • Ron Finley has personally supported community Gorilla Gardening
    • Van Jones helped Congress pass the Green Jobs Act of 2007 which provides $125mm to train 35,000 people/year
    • UPS saved 50,000 gallons of gas by reducing left-hand turns
    • Plants are now being operated via methane-powered gas
    • Spellman College is the first HBCU to build a LEED Certified residence hall
    • The Peace Planters and other organizations are working to shut down nuclear power plants all over the country
    • NY City plans to convert its entire taxi fleet to hybrids by 2011

  • Use a power strip for countertop appliances – to turn all off when not in use
  • Only turn on the Washer and dishwasher when it has a full load
  • Turn Off water between rinsing dishes- or don’t rinse dishes until you use them -to create a barrier for insects.
  • Install an attic fan
  • Install a tank-less water heater
  • Wash clothes (even whites) in cold water
  • Replace chlorine bleach with hydrogen peroxide (1/4 cup)
  • Select electronic billing and e-correspondence for all your current mail
  • Consider second-hand clothing for your next purchase
  • Get your children involved and concerned about green life(encourage them to do science projects and make green gifts)
  • Talk to your children’s school principal about going green
  • Give green gifts with reused green wrapping paper of gift sacks Reuse newspapers for gift wrapping
  • Run errands clockwise and try to eliminate left hand turns as often as possible
  • Take a green vacation
  • Consider a hybrid car when it’s time to replace your current vehicle

If more people got involved in rediscovering their neighborhoods—invoking green initiatives in the process, killing, and Underground crime would actually decrease and there would be more home cottage and small businesses blooming to create sustainable revenue.

Umoja Karamu, meaning "unity feast" in Swahili, is an African American celebration begun in 1971 by Dr. Edward Sims, Jr., held on the fourth Sunday in November. Its purpose is to instill solidarity, Afrikan values, and appreciation of Afrikan heritage into Afrikan American families. Libations to honor ancestors, historical readings, music, and a potluck feast will mark this observance.
The celebration is based on five periods of African American life, each represented by a color and a symbolic food.

1. The color black- Pre Invasion – (Black Beans) Black families before slavery
2. The color white- Maafa – (White Rice) scattering of black families (during slavery)

EMWOT The Griot Gathering

EVERYONE NEEDS TO HEAR the Revolution Revelation on this Spoken Word CD!

It is an eclectic blend of Grassroots, Cultural, Political Spoken Word, Folk and Hip Hop Musical artists from KCMO! A compilation of artists and their music. They sing about Grassroots, current event issues ranging from the poisoning of Nuclear Weapon plant workers and their Neighborhoods to Kansas City Missouri public Schools. Thought provoking and fun, these selections are a blend that only these Kansas City artists can bring to Hip Hop spoken word & Jam. It's the return of people’s music; -it offers a deep human connection, through STRONG sonic celebration....

The CDs opening cut is from our leader of the struggle for all employees who have worked at, Kansas City’s Nuclear Power Plant and were exposed and poisoned by the toxic environment. “The Colonel’s Brief” by Maurice Copeland this is an excerpt on patriotism. He makes a profound statement about the most overlooked and under-served people of the world.

“Honeywell” by Cherith Brook is a protest march manifesto! With the backing of a full brass & drum corps, he sings with clever sarcasm in support of the ongoing advocates, activist, and protesters like the KC Peace Planter member, Sasteh Mosley (a Nuclear Conversion Activist/Speakers Bureau Lecturer) and other poisoned Workers from Kansas City's nuclear weapons plant.

Dirty D/King Kihei is a spoken word artist who espouses the many sentiments of the disenfranchised people who dwell in Urban Kansas City with the weavings of the excerpts of “The Community Update,” “Recess,” and “Power and Lights Out.”

Artists, SAHJ Kaya and Divine Intervention, add their energy with a Reggae flavor in “Nuclear Weapons.” She rages- “RAY-GUN! what you testin for?!!!” while “Political Strings” moves with spirit and a jazzy backup.

Other contributing artists; Priest Hughes and 337 as The Recipe Poetry Guild – create a poignant brew with their clever spoken word juxtapositions against nuclear weapons with: “Self destruction,” and the downsizing of education with: “Parent Teacher Conference”… Their climax selection is my favorite, “What Happened to Hip Hop?!” This is the most Jammin Jewel of the CD for me! The Recipe told the truth about the greed, materialism that consumed and diluted the quality of the Hip Hop movement! I love the refrain “What happened to hip hop- did it die- did it fall down on the wayside?…

“Palm of Your Hand” is a powerful conclusive ending with a primal piercing purging high-pitched release and energy, leading to chants which permeate the collective consciousness of our time!

A griot or jeli (djeli or djéli in French spelling) the griot is a repository of oral tradition, a West African storyteller. The griot delivers history as a poet, praise singer, and wandering musician. As such, they are sometimes also called bards. [the griot] has to know many traditional songs without error, he must also have the ability to extemporize on current events, chance incidents and the passing scene. His wit can be devastating and his knowledge of local history formidable." Although they are popularly known as 'praise singers', griots may also use their vocal expertise for gossip, satire, or political comment. Most villages also had their own griot, who told tales of births, deaths, marriages, battles, hunts, affairs, and hundreds of other things.

Griots — masters of words and music, Griots and Griottes — have been around for a millennium. the male griots and female griottes were historians, genealogists, advisers to nobility, entertainers, messengers, praise singers — the list goes on. Today, they perform on television and radio and record CDs. Many are popular singers who reinterpret traditional songs, giving new meaning to old words — As performers, griots and griottes are in great demand, not only for ceremonies and parties in West Africa, where they have traditionally appeared, but all around the world. Here in the United States, they tour universities to give insight into West African culture.

EMWOT -East Meets West of Troost Presents: THE GRIOT GATHERING

With your purchase of this CD, you will help support At-Risk Youth in education, cultural arts and positive Economic development, Sasteh Meter Mosley (a Nuclear Conversion Activist/Speakers Bureau Lecturer) and other poisoned Workers from Kansas City's nuclear weapons plant. Thank You for your generous donations to this cause!

The Griot Gathering has been devoted to nudging everyone from all persuasions in the direction of freedom and spiritual evolution. This music is “cultural-hip hop-folk-ethnic-funk.” They express a yearning for spiritual revolution -“There can’t be a revolution without Strong Men, Women and Children.”

To inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person, one neighborhood at a time.

To promote and foster the highest ethical relationship between businesses and the public through voluntary self-regulation, consumer and business education, and service excellence.

EMWOT is dedicated to the sharing of experiences, stories, best practices and methods for achieving sustainability in both our personal lives and our communities.

Highest Calling the Law of Gender

I found this proverb as a beautiful expression of the positive energy of the masculine & feminine principles. While it is true that both energies live within each one of us... it is an even stronger representation when the energy aligns with its incarnated gender!

The complete version of this proverb is as follows:

“A woman’s highest calling is to lead a man to his soul,
So as to unite him with the Source;
Her lowest calling is to seduce,
Separating man from soul
And leave him aimlessly wandering.
A man’s highest calling is to protect a woman,
So she is free to walk the earth unharmed.
His lowest calling is to ambush
Forcing his way into her life
And Leave her tied to the mundane world.”

As I always re-member, I am a soul having a human experience, this proverb speaks to me as the paradigm of Ausar and Auset.

This original Kemetic creation story tells about the first manifestations of life, siblings, humans, and principles as- Set, Ausar, Auset and Neb-Het. Jealous Set destroyed his brother, Ausar the benevolent ruler, carved his body into 14 pieces, and hid these pieces all over the planet. Ausar's body parts represent the geo-sacred spaces all over the planet. They also represent the aspects of spiritual powers of mankind that have been destributed all over the earth from KMT and can also be found in each of us and in all aboriginal cultures. Auset traveled all over the world and found all of the pieces of her husband except one. She became the first to give birth through immaculate conception. These 4 siblings represent the 4 aspects of the human spirit. She gave birth to a son and named him Heru. He grew to vanquish his father's murder and restore the benevolent kingdom of  God and mankind.

We all have the choice to be bound by the mundane world or ascend to our highest spiritual nature...  to hear the voice and rise to do the biding of the creator, or to live only in our carnal nature, to seduce, deceive, show force, and rely only on the impirical nature of our human bodies and senses.

Many have no clue what the millennial-long social contracts have been within the scope of gender and human family relationships. Yet, there are divine principals of Yen and Yang, male and female that dwell within all of us. Gender is one of the laws or principles of Imhotep (aka- Hermetic principles)

People are now struggling with gender roles in these times so, some may have a problem with this proverb because of gender politics in the media. Many people have been utterly and hopelessly poisoned by the corruption of western society and western thinking. We live with venomous comments that reek of hateful propaganda, spoon-fed to the masses regularly through media and even academic outlets.

It would uplift us all to heed the words of wisdom of our ancestors; unfortunately, many will just trample and destroy these values, just as many had contributed to the destruction of the Cherokee people and continue to destroy aboriginal peoples and their way of life.

We are available to consult and perform the following services for you:

(All services below are fee-based)

Ceremony

We are all members of Creation! We are Seeds, then Siblings, and then we become Ancestors. It is part of the Kemetic tradition to acknowledge and proclaim our relationships and membership in our Family.

For example, the spring brings the announcement of pregnancy and allows everyone to acknowledge that new life - Seeds (one yet to come) - is on the way from the source of Creation. For this gift we hold a Seed Ceremony (like a baby-shower) to celebrate pregnancy, the gift to the mothers (fertility) and to the father (virility,) and the new life on the way.

Once the new child/children are here a welcome ceremony is held 30-days after the arrival.

Between six-months and the first year of the child/children arrival a naming ceremony is held. This time period is considered the period where-in the child determines if it wants to stay. The naming ceremony (Aq Ren) marks the child/children's commitment to stay in this world. During the naming ceremony the child is dedicated to the Neteru, Aku (Ancestors) and Mut-Tef Ka-Neter (Mut (mother), the Tef (father) Ka-Neter ('god parents')), and to the faith and community. Both the consecration and naming ceremony are performed for adults as well.

We are available to provide services for as few as one, or for as many as a village.

Some Services -Counseling, Mediation, Coaching, Readings and Consulting - can be provided via video and tele-conference, other services are provided on location.

Kemetic Seba Services

Libation Ceremony

Pouring a liquid to open the way for the Creator, the Seeds (yet unborn), the Siblings, and giving venerating the Aku (Ancestors) is part of our way of life. We provide this consecration for our community at all ceremonies.

Adult Naming Ceremony

Names, like words, have generating power - they call you into being. Insure your name associates you with the Creator and the life-creating and life-sustaining forces, and with your cultural heritage. We are also available to consult on name selection.

Child/Youth Naming Ceremony

You should have a name that calls Your child - him/her to power, prosperity and abundance.

Kemetic Wedding Ceremony

Contact Amen Par Ankh to begin planning you Wedding and receive your Kemetic Consecration for yourself and your family.

Ancestor Ascension Ceremony

The funeral ceremony is principally designed to bid the deceased farewell; the Ancestor Ascension Ceremony is to acknowledge and celebrate your departed loved-one as an Ancestor. An Ascension Ceremony is generally scheduled to take place approximately 40-days after the transition of the deceased.

Home/Business Blessing Clearings and Consecration Ceremony

Your home and business are a reflection of your personal and professional self. They serve as an extension of you. Be sure they both support your highest and best self by creating a welcoming and clear environment.

Amen Par Ankh will come to your location to clear negative, stagnant energies and then bring light into your space through music, aroma, prayer and blessings.

When is it appropriate to clear and bless your space?

When you are preparing to move into a new home or office setting

If you feel uncomfortable in your surroundings

After a separation, death or divorce

Before and after a major experience or transition

To clear out the old and bring in the new

You will be amazed at the difference in your home-your sanctuary, and Your Business!

To schedule your clearing and/or blessing, contact Adenike and Sasteh (Prices will vary depending on length and depth of the ceremony and travel accomodations)

“We realized that it was time to have our home Blessed and Cleared of Energies for our new family. We want to make a permanent, progressive change in our lives.”

Green Griot Gathering
Amen Par Ankh offers African Storytelling to teach urban agriculture in Schools, Community Centers , Churches, Theaters locally and across the country and the globe.

We share music, poetry, song, dance and culture of food for all ages!

Harambee!

African storytelling is a call and response interaction. There are distinctions of storytelling from Africans who still practice this art all over the world. In the modern world, storytelling techniques such as music, chant and audience participation make up the best presentations of African storytelling. Communication methods such as video and the Internet now allow anyone to experience the joy of an African story well told.

Empirical stimulation of the five senses helps to create a memory. Use of color, sparkle, music, song, foods, chants, shaking hands and embrace and wonderful aromas aid in embracing the experience.

The storytellers or “Griots” know people will listen if the stories are fun and entertaining. An audience that is laughing or otherwise experiencing deep emotions will be fully engaged in the story and therefore open to more learning.

Morals and instructions in proper conduct can be found in African storytelling.

The first Griots certainly did entertain but they also served as vessels of moral guidance. It is rare to find an African story that does not convey deeper meanings. Each time a person hears a story, even when it is repeated, they may find a new perspective on the teaching.

Animals, Insects, plants and other forms of nature are part of the African storytelling process.

Familiar players, such as Anansi the Spider, show up in many African stories. No matter how they are portrayed, such characters as the weaver-bird, the lion, mosquito and the hyena all become players in this special storytelling. Trees, lakes, rivers and other plants provide a geographical reference as well.

African storytelling can teach historical lessons.

Storytelling is a way for any culture to pass on its history. From stories from Africa, generic terms used now such as “Hero” “King & Queen” or “family” once had real names, meaning and a place in the geography of the Africa. These stories, still told with names in some parts of the world, help the audience to know where they fit into the world and history.
